Impoundment commenced at Çine Dam in Aydin Province, south western Turkey in October 2010.

The dam is 136,5 m in height and comprises a total concrete volume of 1 650 000  , making it one of the 20 largest RCC dams constructed so far in the world to date.

ARQ’s involvement in the design phases of the project included the feasibility design, assistance with the main dam design, all RCC aspects of the design, the RCC specifications, design of the RCC full-scale trials, comprehensive thermal analyses and design of the instrumentation for the RCC coffer dam and the main dam.

During construction, ARQ was responsible for the RCC mix design, assistance to the contractor with the plant design and regular quality assurance visits and reporting.

In addition to general advice on technical queries, ARQ directed the RCC quality control core drilling and testing programme and reviewed the RCC quality and instrumentation data.
